I have been thinking for some time that I am finally ready to tackle LFS, and since my nix config files have reached a point where I feel ok letting them sit (the self sufficiency guide is also going along nicely), and since I have a small workstation computer that runs said nix configuration, I decided that now is the time to make my truly own linux distro.

The plan is simple: I follow LFS to set up a bootable TTY, and from there I will start writing my own nix/guix like package manager and configuration system in Nim. Wait, Nim? What’s Nim?

I received a notification from my VPS provider that my VPS was running at more than 90% CPU utilization, and when I checked the nginx logs I saw the following. I was effectively being DDOS’d by Dario’s (and his troupe of researchers)¹ ClaudeBot.

There has been a new term that I have seen being thrown around, that of ’thought leaders’. Not only is it an insulting term for everyone else, but it is also a very bad term to describe these people. A better phrase would be ’nth order regurgitator'.

Essentially the past couple of weeks I have been looking at the three main Twitter/X alternatives, BlueSky and ATProto, Mastodon and ActivityPub, and NOSTR, and specifically trying to understand how they work and which I should use via self hosting.

Alright, that was a cool two days of self-hosting an atproto server and having a bsky account. Back to mastodon. On the way back, i want to open a discussion
